In today’s fast-paced world of business and leadership, it’s easy to get caught in the relentless cycle of meetings, deadlines, and responsibilities. As leaders, we’re constantly juggling priorities—driving success, managing teams, and making decisions at lightning speed.
And in all of this busy-ness, one critical question often goes unasked:
Is your heart aligned with your business strategy?
Alignment isn’t just about setting ambitious goals or working harder. It’s about finding the intersection between heart and strategy—the balance of staying true to your values while driving meaningful results.
When leaders operate from a place of alignment, they inspire trust, make more intentional decisions, and experience success that’s not only measurable but deeply fulfilling.
So, how can you lead with authenticity in both your career and life? This month, we’re exploring three key ways to bring your heart and strategy into harmony.
1. Cultivate Self-Awareness
Great leadership starts from within. To lead effectively, you need to understand yourself—your values, strengths, triggers, and long-term vision. Without that awareness, it’s easy to drift away from what truly matters.
Take a moment to reflect:
- What do I value most—personally and professionally?
- Do my daily actions align with those priorities?
When you check in with yourself regularly, you gain clarity on the why behind your decisions. And that clarity fuels authentic leadership—the kind that feels natural, not forced.
Quick Tip: Start a journaling habit or create a morning routine where you pause and reflect on how your day aligns with your values and purpose. Pay attention to moments when your energy spikes or dips—it’s often a sign of alignment (or misalignment).
Challenge: Each day, jot down one insight about your leadership style. Over time, you’ll notice patterns and areas for growth.
2. Set Purposeful Goals
Working hard isn’t enough—we need to work with intention. Misalignment happens when leaders chase goals that don’t reflect their values or long-term vision. Instead of asking, What can I accomplish this quarter?, shift the focus to:
- What kind of leader do I want to be?
- How can my goals reflect that intention?
When your goals align with your deeper purpose, they become more than just checkboxes—they become stepping stones toward the impact you want to create.
Quick Tip: Connect your professional goals to your bigger vision. If innovation is a core value, set a goal to actively foster innovation within your team. Dedicate time, resources, and encouragement to make it happen.
3. Embrace Authentic Connection
February is often associated with love and relationships, making it the perfect time to focus on connection. Leadership isn’t just about strategy—it’s about people. The best leaders build trust, create space for real conversations, and make their teams feel valued.
Authentic connection isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being real. It’s okay to admit when you don’t know something or to share the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Vulnerability isn’t a weakness—it’s a strength that fosters trust and deeper relationships.
Quick Tip: Schedule one-on-one time with your team this month. Skip the formal agenda—just listen, learn, and understand what’s on their minds.
Why Alignment Matters
Alignment isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity if you want to lead with impact and authenticity. When your heart and strategy are in sync, decision-making becomes clearer, relationships grow stronger, and your influence expands.
By leading with alignment, you set the example for your team to do the same.
So, take a moment this February to check in with yourself:
Are your heart and strategy working together, or is it time for a reset?
Remember, alignment isn’t about perfection—it’s about intention.
Let this be the month you lead with purpose, authenticity, and clarity. Because when your heart and strategy align, success follows naturally—and it just feels right.
What’s one step you’ll take this month to align your heart and strategy?

Integrity.
Lately I have had to tell our sales and project management teams that we have bid work with bad information because the project was bid so long ago and so they need to contact the customer and give them notice of an increase in price, a hard pill for them to swallow. At the same time a project surfaced that also had been laying around a bit but the inverse had taken place when we had realized a price decrease but now do we pass that savings back to the customer or use the money to increase our margin. We will sit together, for maximum impact, and decide to pass savings onto the customer thereby demonstrating integrity.
