We’ve recently turned the page on 2022 and it’s a brand new year. This is a natural time for self-reflection. It’s also an opportunity to let go of the past and embrace new beginnings.
What will your story be for 2023?
As you think about that question, you may find it feels scary to look at the blank pages of the year ahead because you’re unsure how 2023 will unfold.
It may also feel intimidating to think about writing your new story after the past few years that have been filled with so much uncertainty and change.
Your feelings are normal, and you can still take steps into the future you want even when you’re feeling scared or unsure.
A blank page or screen does not have to be a curse, it can be a gift. This is your chance to start fresh, release the old, and create something brand new.
Exciting, right?
Hold onto that feeling of excitement because creating new habits or breaking old patterns can quickly become exhausting. It’s easy to keep a New Year’s resolution on Day 1, but it’s challenging to maintain consistency for 365 days in a row.
That’s why it’s so important to keep focused on what you want to accomplish and pair that focus with simple, actionable steps to make your vision a reality.
Stop telling yourself that you’re going to start next Monday, or next month, or next year. Each year passes by so quickly! Start today, start right now. Create your vision for the year and go for it! Continue to reflect on your vision each day to stay laser focused on the important things.
Take some time to really think about what you want for yourself and your life. Journal answers to the following questions to start identifying how you’re going to write your story in 2023:
- What are your goals?
- What are your dreams?
- Where do you want to be at the end of 2023?
- And most importantly, what are you willing to do to make your vision a reality?
Once you’ve identified your vision for 2023, don’t worry too much about exactly how you’re going to make it happen. Just identify the first 2-3 actions you need to take, and do them every single day.
That’s it! You’ve already started writing your story for 2023. This is the prologue, and the main story is about to begin.
If you’re feeling stuck or unsure about where to begin when writing your new story for 2023, we’ve got a gift for you. When we coach leaders, we use a tool called a Balance Wheel to help them figure out what they want and where they need to start.
Click here to download our Professional Balance Wheel. You can fill out your own Balance Wheel now and revisit this tool throughout the year to continue identifying the next right step to move forward and accomplish your vision for 2023.
Identifying your goals and the actions required to reach them doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as setting aside 15 minutes per day to work on a passion project or journal about what you want from your life.
This is your story; you’re holding the pen. You write your 2023 story one page at a time by taking small, actionable steps toward your vision every single day.
Every single step forward takes you one step closer to the story you want for yourself. Keep writing, keep learning, keep growing!
Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes or encounter setbacks along the way. That’s all part of the journey.
Don’t let fear or uncertainty prevent you from getting started as you stare at the blank pages of 2023. Your future is yours to create, and these blank pages are just the beginning.
Envision your best and make it happen!
