Last week, we had our annual Coaches Circle in Atlanta, GA and the theme was Building Resilience.
Has anybody experienced any challenge, change, or adversity lately?
I know I have… and some of the people I love the most are experiencing all of these right now.
So how do we reach out, and love, and care, and nurture, and coach, and mentor, and HELP the people we serve without taking the time to build our own resilience?
NEWS FLASH!
We can’t. For those of us whose passion is to give and make a positive difference, we cannot keep giving without building our own resilience. We run out of gas eventually.
We just completed a pilot of our new program, big4health™. This program was developed because we saw the need to offer a better solution than a balance wheel to overworked, hurting, burned-out, just “trying to make it through the day” leaders.
The goal of this program is to help leaders experience increased energy, more productivity, and better health.
That’s why we researched for over 2 years, earned certifications, and hired an RN to help us deliver this program.
It requires small changes for a big impact.
At the heart of this science-based program to help leaders have increased energy, more productivity, and better health is…renewing emotions.
SAY WHAT???
Yes, I questioned this too. Sounds too touchy-feely, but it isn’t. It is backed by over 20 years of science— and even longer if you look at the ancient teachings of almost every culture in the world.
Renewing emotions.
Yes, those emotions we are almost always too busy to feel as we strive for a zero inbox and to check off the long list of To Dos that never seem to end. We work longer hours and get less done – eventually our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health suffers.

When was the last time you actually stopped to feel any of these emotions?
When you actually feel these emotions, your hormones go crazy. Like the good kind of crazy!
Amazing things happen inside your body.
Cortisol levels drop
Your immune system goes into overdrive
You have increased longevity
Improved memory
More effective problem-solving
Increased cognitive flexibility, creativity, and intelligence
Improved job performance and achievement
Increased happiness
…and it builds your resilience.
So- take some time right now.
Take a few really deep breaths… a little slower and deeper than usual… and FEEL. Don’t just think about it… feel it …experience it.

How do you feel now after taking a few moments to breathe and experience these deep, renewing emotions?
Take a picture in your mind of this moment. Journal your experience. Remember the sensations so you can pull them up in stressful situations. It will make a big difference in how you react when stressed- and you cannot even imagine the wonderful chemicals (invisible to you because it is going on inside your body) that will give you increased energy, more productivity, and better health!
Make a promise to take the time to experience these renewing emotions daily. You deserve it.
Your body… your team…your boss…your spouse…your children… may even thank you for it.
I am making a commitment to stop and feel renewing emotions during this holiday season.
Aren’t holiday seasons even more stressful because all of the obligations and responsibilities that only increase during this time of year?
Yes… they are. That is why I know I need to do this even more right now.
I hope you will join me on this journey.
Ready, set, GO.
